As Covid-19 threatens to shut down communal spaces, entertainment, businesses and the economy, it is a scary-time we are living in. People are being forced to stay home, practice social distancing and even carrying around disinfectants and hand sanitizers.
As a freelance artist, Covid-19 is hitting the freelance economy hard. A large percentage of us are finding ourselves decreasing in income due to cancellation of shows and classes. Performances that we were once looking forward to are getting cancelled because airplanes are one of the most susceptible places to get Covid (confinement spaces with close contact to people, not to mention the air circulation isn't that great either).
However, in times like this, it is important to practice consistently good personal hygiene such as washing hands with soap for at least 10 seconds, surface wiping our phones, laptops and tablets after prolonged usage, drinking loads of water, not touching our faces etc. Additionally, being socially responsible so that we can minimize the transmission of this virus is essential. This includes social distancing, staying home if you're feeling unwell even in the slightest, wearing a mask on public transportation, carrying around hand sanitizer etc. All of this may seem like a lot of effort to implement at once, so take your pick in what's easiest to implement. But would you rather risk a higher transmission of Covid-19, or to hassle yourself for 10 seconds so that you can be healthier for your yourself and your loved ones?
The main purpose of this post is to compile a list of resources for those who find themselves in lack of inspiration and in need of some virtual traveling. It's amazing what technology can do, and how it can be the most useful tool in times like this. I am also very thankful for spaces like these where we are still able to access and be inclusive as a community.
*This list will be continually updated on a consistent basis.

We offer 6 Gaga classes daily, 7 days a week, from 2 different time zones. Classes are open to anyone, from anywhere in the world. At this time, classes will be given by Gaga Teachers in Tel Aviv and New York City. Classes are given on a simple online platform, Zoom. Zoom is accessible from your phone, tablet or computer. *Download the free app for easy access.

Ailey Extension was created to continue Alvin Ailey's legacy that dance comes from the people and should be given back to the people. While these are difficult times for the dance community which relies on people gathering in spaces to share movement and create together, it feels important more now than ever to make dance accessible to everyone.
Performances/Shows
For a month, we're providing free access to our production recording of our 2006 production, 'Good People', on Vimeo. "In these confined times, I'll be posting full works, whether it's captions from existing pieces, films, unreleased rehearsals material, and will give some insights on how, when and with who those works were created. Will start with Skid created for the Gothenburg dance company in 2017. A work for 17 dancers created with American Artist Jim Hodges (in collaboration with Carlos Marques Da Cruz) with a soundtrack by Chridtian Fennesz and costumes by Jean Paul Lespagnard. I always wanted to render the force of gravity passing through the dancer’s bodies more visible. Inspired by the Japanese ritual of Onbashira, where hundred of men dangerously slide down mountains sitting on tree trunks, Skid was entirely created and rehearsed on a 34 degree slope. Full piece on the link in bio. Prefer large screen. Enjoy and stay safe everyone." - Damian Jalet (https://www.facebook.com/damien.jalet/)
