Hello everyone! I hope this message finds everyone safe and healthy during this period of time.
In light of this Covid-19 situation, I will be suspending of my private, studio-based classes. This is in response to the heightened measures implemented to reduce the infection rate of the virus. As the number of cases increase exponentially globally, it is best practice to stay home and not go out unless necessary. This means that I will not be traveling specifically for teaching unless previously arranged. I will politely decline any offers to teach & coach in studios until the situation has improved. I seek your cooperation and understanding.
This also means that my Open Class - Flow, Rhythm & Improvisation will be suspended from now on!
But, not all hope is lost yet!
Hence, I will be taking all these classes via telecommuting. These classes will be specifically designed for home-based dancing, with minimal to no equipment necessary to enjoy these classes to your fullest. I will be using Zoom to hold these online classes. If you are interested to have a session with me, please contact me at maybelle.lek@gmail.com / contact form under 'Classes'.
It is crucial at we stay safe. It is a turbulent time for us all as we continue to adjust to the quick-changing climate. Despite all of this, we should all remain hopeful and do our own part. A small effort, multiplied exponentially, goes a long way. We can't afford to be complacent. We need to stay connected, remain supportive, reach out to our communities and stay mindful and healthy.
Physical activity is a timeless skill that you can learn and practice anytime. By having this skill, it will open more doors to more physical activities. Additionally, the increase in blood flow also helps with organ health and cardiovascular health too:
“Having an increase in blood flow and circulation to areas of your body helps promote cell growth and organ function. Your skin also benefits from an increase in blood circulation.Healthy skinis better able to fight off bacteria and infection that it may come in contact with. When your heart pumps at full force, yourheart rate lowers, heart muscles relax and your blood pressure flows evenly and smoothly.” —benefits-blood-circulation-katharine-jensen-kjensifyme-healthy
Let's face it, it helps us keep sane too.

Dos & Don'ts of Staying Inside
1. Give yourself space to feel what you're feeling - it is okay if you need a minute to let yourself feel things - no one is super human.
2. DON'T force yourself to find a silver lining. It is okay to feel bad. Feelings will come and go. Meditation will come in handy during this time.
3. Concentrate on what needs to be done today.
4. DON'T plan far ahead into the future - we don't know what will happen, which is scary, and planning far ahead can be really stressful.
5. Pick an activity that gives you a break from the news cycle - not watching the news does not mean you don't care.
6. DON'T feel like you have to master 5000 new things or be productive during this time.
7. Give yourself a break - it is a stressful time and impossible to be perfect. Honestly, you're probably doing amazing right now.
8. DON'T forget you're real, valid, and very much needed in this chaos.
