Many of us are shifting our workplaces back to our houses, and it can sometimes feel like this....
I thought that I would do something fun and show you my Work From Home Set Up & Routine. I will also share some tips that will be helpful in maintaining productivity as well as finding a balance between rest and work.

1. Dedicate a space for working.
Whether it is a table or a corner, dedicate that to work. Working from home can sometimes makes us lose track of time, as well as decrease in productivity and concentration. Finding a space dedicated to work, making that your office is a great way to change your frame of mind, as if entering your own office/desk preparing to work. Not only will this increase your productivity at home, it is also a long-term solution as we continue to foresee working from home in the near future.
In the case for my set up, this is my table:
1. I have a TV which can be plugged into a laptop to enlarge or have 2 screens for working (in this case, for binging on Netflix).
2. I have a keyboard which can be either be plugged into my laptop or via Bluetooth as a separate device. I find that having this set-up allows me to navigate more quickly from my notebook to my keyboard for typing. Additionally, my keyboard can also be used when I am using the TV for work-related purposes.
3. I always have a bottle of water with me to keep me hydrated. Hydration is super important not only for our bodies, but for our mental health and brains.
4. The photos on my wall allows me to take a break whenever I get too cross-eyed/overwhelmed with technology. It allows me to release some tension and travel in my mind.

2. Be Resourceful
Turning our homes into home-offices/studios can be a challenge, especially when you need a sufficient amount of space to conduct your classes. Right now, everyone is using Zoom which is great for teleconferencing, holding meetings as well as online classes. Additionally, social media is a great platform to stay connected to the infinite number of resources available. This photo is a picture of me trying to figure out the best set-up to conduct my online classes. Whilst it may not have the best background or set-up, being resourceful without spending too much money is essential. Eg: using a chair as a barre, dedicating 1-2 metre square of space enough to extend your legs. Know that everyone out there is doing their best with what they've got, and sometimes that is enough.
3. Setting up a routine/schedule and stick to it!

It is very tempting to not have a schedule as we work from home. Why? Because it is home and we have nowhere else to be. However, even the simple act of designing your own schedule can be highly effective. It has been proven that designing a schedule not only allows you that flexibility to work that hours that suit you, it create a structure, or effectively a routine. Having this routine allows us to maintain our mental health as well as create good habits.
